The red handrails or bannisters and solid concrete steps are a short flight to the ageing wayang stage in the village centre of Pulau Ubin. The rear entrance captured my imagination as I strolled around the wooden structure before attempting this perspective for my shot.

There are lots more that the NPCC cadets do not get to see. I first step foot on Pulau Ubin in 1972 when I participated in a 21-day Outbound School Course - PU 53. It was 'wild' and probably had a population of about 2,000-3,000 people at least. Farming, poulty and animal husbandry were at its height then. The virgin forests presented a challenge to the faint-hearted. Since then, I have returned to Pulau Ubin regularly to camp, for topo marches, for photography, for birding, for canoeing and for its seafood.

JP,

See, how much excitement you have caused to Anne, so much so that she posted her comments for this worn out staircase on another slot! Who would have thought that this shot could mean anything to anyone, but it has!
